These are the bits that if you were reading the printed version crop up every now and again for no apparent reason. It's harder to do that with an on-line zine, so they're wrapped together here for your viewing pleasure.
Last time round I reviewed a demo by Milque. Dufus. And its kin excellent. Anyway, apparently they will have an EP/Mini-album released sometime in the Autumn on the Aniseed label. Watch out for it.
And the YAZ curse has struck. Following their first mention in here, Seratone shed one member of the band. Following the interview, theyve shed another, Nicky, was has been replaced on Bass by someone else.
Do you believe this. Absolute Bloom split the same day as HWP. What were people putting in the water that day. So I guess that means the interview with them is er, canned, as I never received the answers to the questions, and am unlikely to now. Bugger.
Just a few misguided ramblings of a tired man ....
Just got back from a hardcore all dayer down in Birmingham. Intention, Set Against, Assert, Medulla Nocte, Knuckledust, Astream, King Prawn, Goober Patrol and Agnostic Front. And bloody good it was to.
And anyway, I was thinking, thank God the car passed its MOT. I was also thinking about the next few issues of YAZ, its future and whatever. So heres some thoughts. Issue 8 will be out sometime in September. Interviews will be Tura Satana, Bullyrag, Milque and Scratchin Post. Issue 9 in October with Breed 77, Far, Consumed and Monkey Boy. Thats all the interviews that have already been done used up then. Issue 10 will be a Crimbo edition, and I havent a clue what will be in it, though Ill try and think of something festive. And Ill try and get some more interviews for then. You can hardly wait I know!
As to the future, well, some people have said they wouldnt mind doing a review or something. So if you want to, do it and send it in and Ill try and include it. It was also suggested maybe people send in a spleen of their own. So if you want to vent, then do so. I guess my ego likes the idea of keeping YAZ totally me, cos then I can feature what I want, the way I want it, without editing and fear of offending someone with the way I edit. But, I guess if people do want to contribute, then why not. Either that or start up a new joint effort zine. Offers anyone? Thought not.
Oh, and another thing ....
Korn - just a few thoughts here. Many people it seems were pissed with Korn for having the audacity to pull out of Ozzfest. Fuck, how can they do that to US. Dont they care about US. Were their fans. They owe US. They must do what WE want them to. Like, Ive got a problem with the general attitude of Korn at the moment, but how can people complain about them putting family first. Like the birth of a kid. Pretty fucking important. Have YOU never dropped out of something you were planning to do because something more important cropped up. Thought so. Fuck, its typical of us fans aint it. Selfish. We only want for ourselves. Besides, how would it have look had a band who are going to tour under the guise of Family Values (whichever way you wish to take that) had decided to sacrifice Family Values in this case. Its about time people realised they dont own a band. And by the same token, bands dont own fans. This is one instance where Korn got it perfectly correct. And besides, did so many of you REALLY spend all that money just to see 1 band when there were 13 others playing. Thats sad.
You can go back to sleep now. I know Im going, cos its 1am and Ive got some work to try and do in the morning.
You realise that were almost at the end and Ive not mentioned Gorilla yet. No, Im not slipping, its just that all is quiet at the moment. Which should mean that they are sorting out the mini-album that has been promised for way too long now. And if thats the case, then it should mean its not too long before I can mention them again here properly. Which is what we want right?!?
Right at the close of play for this YAZ, and Ive just received a tape of the upcoming, or by the time you get to this part, already in the shops, debut album by Earthtone9. Its on Copro Records, and after a couple of quick plays it appears to be something of a belter. Expect a proper review next time. Or get it yourself. But think a touch of Tool, with an edge of hardcore. Nice. Very nice.

Just saw a band called Noisegate in Birmingham. Expect more on them next time, including proper reviews. But if Machine Head / Pantera is your business, dont wait until next time. Write to them at, Noisegate, 7 Marshall House, St Quentin St, Pleck, Walsall, WS2 9JB.
Include 3 squidlers, and you should get a demo that will once more show that the UK is just as good as anywhere else.
