To the bands featured for agreeing to do the interviews.
Whoever has helped out by passing on copies, whoever reads this, whoever passes on comments, and whoever is kind and gracious enough to give me a chance if they meet me. Thanks.
And to the small bunch of people who are humouring me with their comments on this thing, passing on stuff and info to me, and just generally putting up with me being a whingeing bastard most of the time. Cheers. Much appreciated.
And thanks to the people who supported this from the start, or at various points in between.
I just read the Metal Hammer review of YAZ6. Im up to bog reading status. Weyhey! Ill crack em yet. No pun intended there. Crack, bog. Oh well, its up to you.
The Review policy (which really doesnt change from issue to issue).
(Read if you have a demo or before you complain about the lack of
stuff in here).
Well, basically the zine covers most things I hope. Rock, metal, punk, hardcore, twistedschizoidfunkaraggamuffin and all it's mutant cousins. it doesn't really matter. Labels just tend to be a convenience. But, pretty much everything reviewed in here I have to buy. I dont get (many) freebies or advances from labels or anything. So, it tends to be something I buy in the hope Ill like. But if I dont, then I can feel justified in criticising.
Some people have passed stuff on to me, and to those people I try to say thanks in the appropriate place.
If you want your demo reviewed, then youll have to send it to me. I havent always got the time and money to go searching for everything, even if Id like to. Buying CDs, tickets for gigs, paying the printing costs me enough. I may not be a proper zine without all the obscure demo reviews, but Im not fucking loaded either. For bands with demos or wanting coverage and help, its a two way relationship with a zine. You have to help them as well as they help you.
Disclaimer
Well, I still like it, so I claim that its not someone who walks into a record shop and asks for a disc!
All spelling mistakes are intentional and on purpose, designed to test your skill of observation and not down to stupidity on my behalf. Well, not all the time. Factual mistakes are usually mine, but could be blamed on the computer, or the government, or just the little green men.
The views are my own, except those expressed by other people. If you disagree with them, fine. But remember, its only an opinion, everyones entitled to it, and its a semi-free country. But does it really matter?
Interview policy.
Now you dont see this often in zines. But anyway, afer recent issues er, little rants against certain magazines, I thought Id defend myself with this. I accuse them of unbalanced coverage, too many pages on one band. Then I do massive interviews myself. Well, the justification and policy is this. Doing it myself, I dont have the same amount of interviews pending. Sure, it would be nice to have 10 per issue, in which case, they couldnt be as long as they are. But I simply dont have the time to do all those myself. So the ones I do have time for, have the luxury of being able to go on a bit longer. Besides, I like to try and give the chance to get to know the band if you like. Its tradeoff between a one person self financed operation, and something organised. Plus I try to give the bands space equivalent to the time they give me. If they will talk for 5 minutes with 1 or 2 word answers, then they get that sort of space. If they talk for 45 minutes, in depth, thats the sort of space they get. Not perfect maybe, but thats how it is.
